Theory of Mind Development. Continuity from Infancy to Preschool Age?
Research on social understanding in infancy has made dramatic progress in the last few years, with experimental evidence indicating the ability to take others' false beliefs into account when predicting their behavior in infants in the second year of life. Different interpretations of these findings will be discussed. Longitudinal evidence suggesting stability of individual differences in social understanding from infancy to the age of four years will be presented, and discussed with respect to its relevance for theoretical accounts of Theory of Mind development.
